ISDE brought Smiles to the faces of the People of Maheshkhali: 1,000 Families received Food Basket

ISDE Bangladesh has distributed food aid among the distressed, helpless and low-income people in Kalar Mar Chara Union, Maheshkhali Upazila, Cox’s Bazar. On Thursday (May 21), food items were handed over to 1,000 families at the program held in the premises of Kalar Mar Chara Government Primary School premises. 

This initiative, funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center of Saudi Arabia, is being implemented by ISDE Bangladesh. The organizers stated that under the food aid program, priority was given to the poor communities in coastal and remote areas. 

The organization also reported that previously, food aid was distributed among nearly 32,000 beneficiaries, including various remote areas of the host community and Rohingya refugee camps.

In the distribution program, the Panel Chairman of Kalarmarchhara Union Parishad Mohammad Ali, Head teacher of Kalarmarchhara Government Primary School, Aman Ullah, journalist Abdu Rahman, and ISDE’s Maheshkhali Upazila Manager, Monzur Alam, along with local elected representatives, teachers, journalists, and social personalities were present. 

On this occasion, ISDE Bangladesh’s Program Coordinator Md Jahangir Alam, Monitoring Officer Mostak Ahmed, Logistics Coordinator Taj Uddon, Chakaria Upazila Manager Jalal Uddin, Sarwar Matbor, and other officials and volunteers of the organization were present. 

At the event, Panel Chairman Mohammad Ali said, “Many people in the coastal areas are still living through economic crises. Such assistance programs instill hope among people and provide temporary comfort even if only for a short time.” 

Head teacher Aman Ullah said, “When the wealthy and humanitarian organizations of society step forward, the suffering of helpless people is greatly alleviated. ISDE Bangladesh’s initiative is worthy of appreciation.”

ISDE Bangladesh’s Program Coordinator Jahangir Alam said, “We are trying to deliver assistance to the actual beneficiaries. With the cooperation of local administration, elected representatives, and volunteers, the distribution of food items has been successfully completed. Such humanitarian activities will continue in the future as well.”

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude upon receiving the food aid. Local residents said, “It has become difficult to run households under the current market conditions. This assistance has been very helpful for us.”

Another beneficiary said, “For low-income people like us, this aid is a great benefit. We will be able to live with some relief for a few days with our families.”

According to the locals, because the number of poor and unemployed people in the coastal areas is comparatively higher, such humanitarian assistance programs are having a positive impact among the general population.
