ISDE Bangladesh, a private development organization, partnered with UK-based Muslim Charity to extend crucial support to impoverished families in Chakaria Upazila on Thursday. The assistance included cash grants for house repairs, furniture, and essential household goods.
The Upazila Executive Officer, Md. Fakhrul Islam, attended the event as the chief guest and distributed cash assistance to the needy at a meeting held at the Upazila Parishad conference hall.
Other attendees included ISDE Bangladesh’s program coordinator Md. Jahangir Alam, Upazila Youth Development Officer Md. Sajjadul Haque, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Ariful Haque, ISDE Bangladesh’s Chakaria Upazila Manager M. Jalal Uddin, and Project Officer Md. Shahidul Islam.
During the event, Upazila Executive Officer Md. Fakhrul Islam distributed a total of 549,000 taka, giving 77,000 taka to each of the seven selected underprivileged families for house repairs.
In his informal remarks, the Executive Officer thanked ISDE Bangladesh and Muslim Charity for their efforts to provide housing and repair assistance to the poor and homeless.
He noted that if private development organizations continue to support the welfare of the underprivileged, it would be a triumph for humanity. However, he also pointed out that some NGOs seem more interested in commercial activities like business enterprises, often getting embroiled in irregularities while implementing various projects in different areas.
He assured that the Upazila administration would continue to provide comprehensive support and assistance to private organizations working for humanitarian causes.
In his greeting, Md. Jahangir Alam, the program coordinator of ISDE Bangladesh, stated that as a local NGO, they have been working for a long time for the welfare of impoverished people in various remote and underdeveloped areas of Cox’s Bazar.
He emphasized that their humanitarian and service-oriented activities would continue for the marginalized and underprivileged people in Chakaria Upazila. He expressed deep gratitude to the donors in the UK, facilitated by Muslim Charity, for their continued support of these humanitarian initiatives.
