ISDE Bangladesh stands by the flood-affected people of Chakaria and Satkania

The recent heavy rains and landslides in Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban and Chittagong districts have caused extensive damage and loss of life to houses, agriculture, fish, livestock, road transport, and road infrastructure. Chakaria in Cox’s Bazar and Satkania in Chittagong district are among the flood prone areas. Even though the flood waters have receded, there is a shortage of food and clean water. The non-governmental development organization ISDE Bangladesh is standing by the affected families in this extremely critical situation.

With the help of UK international development organization Muslim Charity UK, non Governmental development organization ISDE Bangladesh has distributed relief materials to 200 families in Konakhali and BM char union of Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar district and 150 flood affected families in Keochia union of Satkania upazila of Chittagong district. Daily necessities (rice, pulses, potatoes, soybean oil, onions, ORS, water purification tablets and dry food) have been provided to the families as relief items.

On August 14, 2023, during the distribution of emergency relief at the concerned Union Parishad premises, Muslim Charity UK Country Coordinator Fazlul Karim, ISDE Bangladesh Executive Director MM Najer Hossain, BMchar Union Chairman SM Jahangir Alam, Konakhali Union Chairman Didarul Haque Sikdar, Konakhali UP Secretary Saiful among others. Islam, BM char UP Secretary Erfanul Haque, Social Worker Salim Uddin, Mahbubul Alam, Alamgir Member, Union Parishad Members, ISDE Program Coordinator Md. Jahangir Alam, Upazila Manager Jalal Uddin, Program Officer Sudhir Chandra Das, Abdullah Mohammad Fahim, Shahidul Islam etc. were present.

It should be noted that as an emergency food aid for the flood affected people, with the help of the international development organization Muslim Charity UK, the private development organization ISDE Bangladesh has taken the initiative to distribute emergency relief items to 2000 flood affected families in Konakhali and BMchar Union of Chakaria Upazila of Cox’s Bazar District and Keochia Union of Satkania Upazila of Chittagong District. Initially, this assistance has been provided to 350 families. This assistance will be distributed among other families soon.
