On September 17, 2024, cash grants was distributed to flood-affected, poor and underprivileged families in Fatikchari Upazila for building new houses and repairing houses under the initiative of local Non-Government development organization ISDE Bangladesh, under the support from Muslim Charity, an international development organization based in the UK. Fatikchari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Mozammel Haque Chowdhury was present as the chief guest in the meeting held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium and distributed cash grants to the poor. Country Coordinator of Muslim Charity, M Fazlul Karim, Program Coordinator of ISDE Bangladesh, Md. Jahangir Alam, Program Officer Abu Hasan Azmi and Project Engineer Zahir Raihan Jashed and others were also present in the cash grants distribution ceremony.
In the event, Upazila Executive Officer Md. Mozammel Haque Chowdhury handover BD Taka 77,000 (seventy seven thousand) cash in cash to 4 poor and underprivileged families who were affected by the flood. In addition, 3 affected families by the flood were paid at the rate of 267,450 (two lakhs and sixty thousand) 1st instalment for building new houses.
In the chief guest’s speech, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Mozammel Haque Chowdhury thanked ISDE Bangladesh and Muslim Charity for supporting the flood-affected poor families. At the same time, he urged on other national and international non-governmental development organizations to come forward to help the flood-affected and poor people of Fatikchari areas.
In his opening speech, Muslim Charity’s country coordinator, M Fazlul Karim, said that Muslim Charity will continue to provide assistance through Bangladeshi non-governmental development organizations in natural disasters including floods and other crisis. Non-Governmental Organizations are working for the underprivileged people in remote and adjacent areas as partners of the government.
Program coordinator of ISDE Bangladesh, Md. Jahangir Alam, in his closing speech said that ISDE as a local non-governmental development organization, disadvantaged, adjacent to Chittagong, has been consistently working for the welfare of poor people. Our various humanitarian assistance programs will continue for the welfare of the poor and underprivileged people of Fatikchari. We are deeply grateful to Muslim Charities for their continuing support from various individuals in the UK to continue our activities.
This is noted, ISDE Bangladesh has distributed 11 new houses in Chakaria of Cox’s Bazar district and Fatikchari Upazila of Chittagong district in collaboration with Muslim Charity, an international development organization based in the UK. As part of that, cash assistance is being provided for renovation of 11 houses and overall maintenance of houses.
