With the support from The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) of Saudi Arabia, ISDE Bangladesh has distributed food baskets among thousands of families under the Emergency Food Assistance Project for Rohingya refugees and local host communities in Pekua upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
The beneficiaries of the program were poor families, middle-class families, elderly men and women, poor people from remote coastal areas, and people with special needs. During the distribution from morning till noon, the beneficiaries smiled with relief by holding food baskets.
The ISDE’s project ‘Emergency Food Assistance for Rohingya and Host Communities in Bangladesh-2026’ aims to ensure food security in Rohingya refugee camps and host communities. Presided over by S M Nazer Hossain, Executive Director of ISDE Bangladesh and Vice President of CAB Central Committee, the function was addressed, among others, by Pekua Sadar Union Parishad Panel Chairman Md Shah Newaz, former central leader of Jubo Dal Nazim Uddin Manik, General Secretary of Pekua Upazila Contractors Association AM Rezaul Karim Munna, Program Coordinator of ISDE Md. Jahangir Alam, among othersUpazila Nirbahi Officer Md Tajuddin, Upazila Manager Md Jalal Uddin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Tajuddin, and others were present on the occasion.
S M Nazer Hossain, Executive Director of ISDE Bangladesh, said, “It is a matter of immense pride for us to stand beside KS Relief in this great initiative by responding to the call of humanity. It is our greatest achievement to bring a smile to the faces of our Rohingya brothers and sisters, as well as the helpless people of our own host community. This food aid is not just a basket; it is a message of hope and harmony. We gratefully acknowledge that without this generous support from Saudi Arabia, it would not have been possible to stand beside the people in crisis on such a large scale. ISDE Bangladesh is committed. We will continue this journey until food security is ensured for every helpless family. ”
Earlier, under the same project, food items were distributed among 5,000 families in different areas of Dhaka city, 3,500 in Rohingya refugee camps, and 1,000 families in Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila. Through this series of programs, KSRelief and ISDE Bangladesh are jointly setting a humanitarian example by standing beside the Rohingya crisis as well as the local poor people. Under the project, food items will be distributed among the local people of Cox’s Bazar Sadar, Ukhia, Chakaria, Pekua, and Maheshkhali upazilas.
Affected locals said such help has brought great relief to their daily lives. This will be very helpful in ensuring food security. The ceremony was held peacefully and orderly, officials said.
