WJR team visits SHGs of Community based Climate Resilience Initiatives in Coastal Areas of Bangladesh Project in Cox’s Bazar

Ms Laura Hendy and Mr. Spencer Leland of WJR UK has visited ISDE Bangladesh implementing and WJR supported Community based Climate Resilience Initiatives in Coastal Areas of Bangladesh project activities in #Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar 27th April 2022. They talks with the self help group members and their families and local Government Council representatives. The also make conversations how to reduce the climate vulnerabilities at the areas and create alternative livelihood for the community peoples. The communities shared they are facing drinking water crisis, food production and alternatives income earning faced difficulties due to salinity problem and safe shelter, education, health and other facilities become unreachable for them.

ISDE Bangladesh initiated “Community based Climate Resilience Initiatives in Coastal Areas of Bangladesh’ In Cox’s Bazar coastal areas. ISDE developing some self help group who act on reduces the vulnerability on climate change issues through capacity development, awareness raising and alternative livelihood options. The project is started to implement at Coastal part of Chakaria Upazila (sub district) under Cox’s Bazar district with the support from WJR UK.

Self help Group(SHG) already formation already started and Group based Awareness sessions going at the project locations Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar under “Community based Climate Resilience Initiatives in Coastal Areas of Bangladesh’ Project. ISDE developing some self help groups who act on reduces the vulnerability on climate change issues through capacity development, awareness raising and alternative livelihood options in Southeastern part of Bangladesh. During the visit ISDE Executive Director S M Nazer Hossain explained the details interventions under the project. Amongst other Programme Coordinator Md Jahangir Alam, Programme Manager Md Jashim Uddin Siddique, HR Coordinator Shampa K Nahar also present the visit.
